Maui Wildfire Survivor Home Buyer Program — Rebuild Your Future

Are you a survivor of the 2023 Maui wildfires looking to buy your first home or find permanent housing?

The Hoʻokumu Hou First-Time Homebuyer Opportunity Program is here to help you secure and afford a home in Maui County with up to $600,000 in assistance for eligible residents.

This program supports wildfire survivors who:

  • Do not currently own a home and have not owned one in the past three years
  • Have a household income at or below 120% of the area median income (AMI)
  • Want to purchase a single-family home, townhouse, or condo in Maui County (excluding properties in flood zones)
  • Are committed to making the home their primary residence

Assistance can help cover:

  • Down payment and closing costs
  • Mortgage rate discounts (discount points)
  • Principal buy-downs to lower monthly payments
  • Other approved home-buying expenses

Once approved, you can work with a licensed real estate agent to find your new home with confidence. If you are interested, a case manager will guide you through eligibility verification, document collection, and home purchase steps.
